Nutmeg also wows the eyes when sprinkled over a dish thanks to its pretty flecked brown colour. Either way, its unique taste should be the only reason you need to use it. We never tire of it in our favourite dishes!
You can grate whole nutmeg with a zester or micro plane. Add it to classic dishes, such as gratin dauphinois. Top tip: add the nutmeg to the milk used to cook the potatoes. This makes it possible — with the right amount — to showcase all the flavour of this spice. To store a used nutmeg properly, simply put it back in its glass bottle, and make sure that it remains tightly closed.
